Software for electrical and photovoltaic engineering

News 2018 series - Electric line calculation

Electro Graphics releases the latest 2018 Series of electrical and photovoltaic design software. Here are the most important features and enhancements introduced in the calculation of electrical network, software Ampère line.

EGlink

EGlink is an interchange plug-in between Autodesk Revit and Ampère Professional and represents Electro Graphics's response to BIM's philosophy (Building Information Modeling).

Ring network (Ampère Professional)

The 2018 version improves the management of the ring nets by introducing the network-group switch and optimizing the parallel with the generators.
Now in the ring nets there may be Upright, UPS or Static Converters.

The software analyzes the power grid and decides how to use coefficients (usage and contemporaneity) assigned to utilities, signaling the calculation mode by a message in the Verification module.
The new calculation procedure for Ins Insulation Current, also calculates the current in the ring units, considering also the protections around.

CEI EN 60909-0: near / far fault analysis

Fault calculation (according to CEI EN 60909-0) has been refined with the "near / far" fault analysis (paragraph 4.5 of the standard).

If the fault is near, a generator or motor can not withstand it, the voltages at its terminals are lowered and with them the contribution to the fault current. If it is far away, the failure will not disturb the operation.
But how do you decide if a failure point is near or far away from sources? The rule provides the discriminating rule and to apply it requires a prior analysis of the network to determine whether a generator or engine should be considered far or near the fault point.

In Ampère and Ampère Professional you can choose the fault analysis method.

- Standard: all faults are considered far away from generators. The symmetrical breakdown current and the permanent current always depend on the subtransitive response X.
- Island / Emergency: all faults are considered near the source.
- Automatic: the software analyzes the network to determine near and far fault. The Automatic method ensures the best choice in any network configuration.

Graphical interface

The software was subjected to a graphical update that involved the opening window and the commands bars in the main work window.
From the Ampère startup window, you can start a new job or open a project by choosing it from Favorites or Recent. You can also access Help, manage common database paths, or access main archives: Devices, Cutters, Load materials, and Profiles.

Pannello di avvio

The work area is characterized by the new Multifunction ribbon bar with bigger buttons and easy to identify thanks to descriptions.
At the top left you can activate the Quick Access Bar (fully customizable) with the most important commands available: Undo, Restore, Save, Print, Calculate, Project Properties.o.

With the "Group for Squares" and "Compressed View" view modes, you get a block diagram of paintings throughout the plant.
This representation has been improved to highlight the relationships between painters and, thanks to the dedicated profile for the data displayed at the side of each frame, to obtain a useful schema with the main system data to be printed.
The Navigator utility and Reduced navigator utility are usefull to browse the electrical network; also you can use the Go to ... commands, Bookmarks, and Zone-Quadrats commands.
The Reduced navigator can be hooked to the edge at the top right of the screen, stretched or moved where you want it.

CEI-UNEL 35016 - Fire reaction class

Ampère 2018 considers the standard that sets fire reaction classes for electrical wiring in relation to the EU Construction Products Regulations, in force for all EU states from 1 July 2013.
For cables, refer to EN 50575 standard applied to all electrical wiring for permanent installations in buildings, hospitals, schools, and metropolitan areas.
For each combination of cable types, the standard sets at least 4 classes based on their fire, smoke, dripping and acidity behavior.
In Ampère project documents, a CPR class cable is identified by Designation and Fire Reaction Class (eg FG16OM16 - 0.6 / 1 kV Cca-s1b, d1, a1).
The software was mainly adapted to the Cavetteria archive, prints and user data labels to display the compiled sigla.
For cables in Cavetteria archive, the fire reaction class has been inserted; this information is also available as a search field.
If the CPR specification is not required, it can be disabled.

CEI 64-8 versions 3 e 4

The software has been updated according to versions 3 and 4 of the CEI 64-8 current edition (2012).

531.3 Differential switches (RCD)
It is now possible to specify for each unit the type of differential choosing it among the four new types currently available in the market (AC, A, F, B).
The new property is associated with the Use class field, which is stored in the archive in the protection data, in the search filter panel, in the protection data display grid, in the Automatic protection assignments filter, in the global data printing.
Ampère helps you find and assign distinctive protections by typology, useful to get the correct list of protections to use.

Combined or backup protection (points 570.3.4 and 570.3.5 of standard)
Ampère manages according to the standard: give two elements in series, who is downstream receives help from the upstream device, without looking at the type of the backup (backup or combined). Using the Backup module (Advanced features), the user can inform the software about the relationship between two devices, and use the Backup archive to obtain the protection current.
The backup protection management is now also available for Disconnector, Differential and Switching protectors (Disconnector switches was already handled).
For units without short-circuit protections if the backup is set, Ampère verifies if the reinforcement value read on the archive, is greater than the presumed fault current.

Other features introduced

Automatic switching of the network-group switch, when switching Normal to Emergency on Power supply panel.

Increase the detail with which you can use PE cables in your projects. In multi-pole wiring users, you can now assign an independent, unipolar PE conductor. Further better concerns the PE cables assigned to the ground grid.

Cavi PE e rete di terra

Data display in the Ground Network window is improved and printout is now even more useful.

Cables inserted into the grounding grid are included in the export of metric calculations for Sigma (Sigma is not available in english version).

The Open-circuit voltage (regulation) variable is introduced for synchronous generators as well as for transformers. This way you can calculate the
voltage drop on units in emergency mode, when the generator becomes the reference point for rated voltages.

Adaptation to CEI 23-51 2016 - "Requirements for the implementation, verification and testing of distribution cabinets for fixed installations for domestic and similar purposes", which includes the introduction of power dissipated in panels due to electronic devices, to which 20% must be added to be attributed to wiring them.
