Electro Graphics releases the latest 2018 Series of electrical and photovoltaic design software. Here we present the new EGlink module, an interchange plug-in between Autodesk© Revit© MEP and Ampère Professional 2018, representing Electro Graphics's response to BIM technology.
EGlink is an interchange plug-in between Autodesk Revit and Ampère Professional and represents the Electro Graphics's response to BIM (Building Information Modeling) process mode.
The basis of BIM's philosophy is sharing information to ensure easy communication and cooperation between the various professional figures involved in the project and the construction of a building throughout the lifecycle of a work.
EGlink born with the aim to take advantage of the potential of Electro Graphics calculation software and transfer the results to a BIM design environment according to a data interchange logic where the electric units and the links among them are bound by the network defined in the Revit project.
Simply and automatically EGlink allows you to:
• Extract the network of power circuits defined in the Revit project with the main electrical data exposed by families modeling the elements.
• Generate the Ampère related project, with a one-to-one correspondence between Revit elements and Ampere equivalent users.
• Take advantage of the capabilities of Ampère Professional and pour the results of the calculation of the power grid into the Electro Graphics parameters displayed in the Revit elements.
• Synchronize the electrical data of Revit-related Ampere Utilities bidirectionally.
• Modify the links between the users in Revit and update in the automatic pulling and organization of the project of the Ampère related project.
• Make changes to the Ampère Maglifier with the ability to associate new users with Revit elements that are not yet related to Ampère project entities.
• View the significant data of the cables calculated in Ampere directly in Revit by ad-hoc annotations.
Revit MEP electrical circuits extraction
EGlink retrieves all electrical information made available by Revit families modeling distribution elements (painters, transformers, etc.) and terminal elements (sockets, lights, electrical equipment, etc.) from an electrical system designed in Revit.
Following the logic of defining the electrical power circuits in Revit, EGlink:
- scans the network of circuits;
- reconstructs the tree of ties between the various elements involved;
- recovers the list of unassigned elements, that is, not belonging to any electrical circuit.
The electrical data obtained from each element represents the starting information for defining and tipping the users of the Ampère related project.
Each electrical data is linked to an Electro Graphics project parameter, which can be viewed in the Revit Properties palette; these parameters are the basis of the automatic data synchronization mechanism between the two related projects, offered by EGlink, which guarantees the bidirectional update between Revit electrical data and Ampère electrical data.
Generation of the Ampère related project
EGlink generates the Amp project related to the current Revit project. Every electrical element defined / designed in Revit corresponds to an equivalent Ampère user.
The splicing and framing definition of the related Amp project is obtained from the electrical links defined between the elements of the Revit project, displayed in the system tree of the system browser and rebuilt in the EGlink interface.
Network calculation in Ampere Professional and data synchronization
In Ampere Professional you can take advantage of all the potentialities of the software: editing the electrical data of users, assigning protections, calculating the power grid.
Once all the necessary processing has been completed, the results obtained can be automatically transferred to Revit.
The synchronization of the electrical data managed by EGlink is bidirectional, meaning the operator can make changes to the Revit elements by editing the Electro Graphics parameters directly in the EGlink Properties palette; the related Ampere Utility data will automatically be updated.
Modify units ties in Revit
After creating the Ampère related project, you can modify the links between the units in Revit: add new elements, create new circuits and / or modify existing circuits, delete elements and / or circuits.
The Ampère related project is updated automatically: New elements are associated with new Ampere users and possibly truncated, users associated with deleted items are stapled.
You can also make changes to the Ampère Magnification and automatically synchronize the Revit project with the ability to associate new users with Revit elements that are not yet related to Ampère project entities.
Displays the data of the calculated electrical wires
At the end of the plant design, the operator can trace the electrical power circuits in Revit (exploiting the symbolic representation offered by the software), then, by EGlink, obtain the designation and cable formation calculated in Ampere and visualize them in the Revit project using the custom cable note.
